Summer 2013
Cellospeak in 2013 is in its 13th year with 150 cellists from 25 states.
Under the direction of Dorothy Amarandos, two distinctly different workshops are scheduled for adult amateurs, with a brilliant faculty (1 to 4 ratio), this year at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, PA. The first week is called "The Skill Builder" (from July 28th to August 3rd) and offers technique classes
specifically designed for the levels of advancement, 6 half hour private lessons, group choirs and evening recitals by both faculty and participants. The second week is for "Ensemble Training" (August 4th to 10th) and includes, along with the technical training, coached quartets, and a 5 part cello choir which will perform a final concert in the Great Hall under the dynamic baton of NY guest conductor, Miriam Burns. Our mission is to provide opportunities for inspiring and enriching cello instruction for all adults from all professions, backgrounds, and stages of life to come together in the Cellospeak programs to share a love of music and the cello. The Greater Washington Suzuki Institute starts June 22. Students who study violin, viola, cello or bass by the Suzuki approach, from pre-Twinkle through advanced levels participate in the Institute as a supplement to year-round lessons. They enjoy individual and group instruction, and are motivated to be in the company of other students and families who value and actively pursue musical development. Teachers attend the Institute to learn the Suzuki Method or to refresh or expand their teaching skills. The full brochure and institute description can be found at http://www.sagwa.org/Resources/Document/Greater_Suzuki_Brochure_2013_4th-1.pdf and http://www.sagwa.org/gwsi
